An Invitation to Join #ChangeTheNow
In 2018 Georgian College, Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker College, wanted to know if they could mobilize students from kindergarten to Post Secondary into a movement, effectively building a region of Changemakers. It was from here that #ChangeTheNow began.
Do Good to Do Well
#ChangeTheNow was created on the beliefs that small acts can lead to big change and collaborations can turn into largescale movements. We believe together students’, educators’ and communities’ ideas can spark systems shifts that make will make our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive!
Will you join us in creating the positive change and contribute to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals?

🤔 Reflection question
How might the prototype & test stage help you with overcoming a fear of failure or challenging your assumptions about what is ‘right’?
Sharon's Answer
An idea cannot be implemented without testing. It has to go through the experimenting stage. Multiple tests can give multiple results, As we reach a stage of finding cumulative similar results and errors we become more confident to rectify the errors and find the right solutions. This challenge makes us more stronger and the whole experience becomes a learning process.

🤔 Reflection question
How might the prototype & test stage help you with overcoming a fear of failure or challenging your assumptions about what is ‘right’?
Meera's Answer
As I understood, prototyping is creating a model of what we need to actually create. As a result of that we will forcibly be pushed into an actual scenario and will have to face, analyze and overcome the risks associated with it. This will definitely help us in experiencing how to deal with such situations and become successful. The fear of failure can be treated appropriately as we will be learning everything by actually facing it.

🤔 Reflection question
How might ideation help you develop your active listening skills to brainstorm and reflect on ideas effectively with your team?
Sharon's Answer
The thought process flows through random ideas and focusing on one particular task can be difficult. When sharing ideas in a team, questioning our instincts can be one way to keep focus. patience and time for others is yet another achievable quality to accomplish. Focusing on listening rather than talking can find clarity in our minds as well as a common ground for everyone to share views.

🤔 Reflection question
How might ideation help you develop your active listening skills to brainstorm and reflect on ideas effectively with your team?
Meera's Answer
The thinking process was a struggle for us as we had to discuss for a long time to generate ideas earlier. But, after doing the Ideate stage, we found that developing ideas was much easier as the template that we used which is the Fast Idea Generator helped us a lot. While placing a problem in one cell under the normal rule and evaluating the ways in which those can be bend, stretched or broke was very interesting and all the team members were engaging very well as it involved a fun element too. We guess these kind of Idea generators will definitely help a team to think out of the box to find the possible changes that can happen to an existing rule or problem.

🤔 Reflection question
How might ideation help you develop your active listening skills to brainstorm and reflect on ideas effectively with your team?
Girish's Answer
It creates new team dynamics. Ideation techniques are designed to help you push boundaries and think out of the box. Analogous thinking, coming up with the worst possible solution for something, challenging long-standing assumptions and reverse thinking are all strategies that help you think in new innovative ways.

🤔 Reflection question
How might you explain the value of you having a systems-thinking mindset when attempting to define and understand a complex problem?
Vishnu's Answer
The idea of thinking is enough to give a person a reason to stare. Systems thinking is a method to understand and help in problem solving. Usually if a problem arises we try to solve it but through system thinking we are able to solve everything that comes around that problem.

🤔 Reflection question
How might you explain the value of you having a systems-thinking mindset when attempting to define and understand a complex problem?
Sharon's Answer
Defining a problem itself will take action to understand the consequence. Generating the back story for the problem can get to the root cause of the issue. At the same time, it cannot be just a hypothesis; more objectifying evidence is necessary to understand the condition.

🤔 Reflection question
How might you explain the value of you having a systems-thinking mindset when attempting to define and understand a complex problem?
Girish's Answer
A mindset more than a prescribed practice, systems thinking provides an understanding of how individuals can work together in different types of teams and through that understanding, create the best possible processes to accomplish just about anything.

🤔 Reflection question
How might you explain the value of you having a systems-thinking mindset when attempting to define and understand a complex problem?
Meera's Answer
I could never think in this way before while considering the problem I was focusing on. While discussing and discovering the causes of the problem that we deal with, we had to take a lot of time to find the relevant points or ideas. But when we used the systems-thinking pathway, things were working out easily than before. We could arrive at relevant points much quicker than before.
