An Invitation to Join #ChangeTheNow
In 2018 Georgian College, Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker College, wanted to know if they could mobilize students from kindergarten to Post Secondary into a movement, effectively building a region of Changemakers. It was from here that #ChangeTheNow began.
Do Good to Do Well
#ChangeTheNow was created on the beliefs that small acts can lead to big change and collaborations can turn into largescale movements. We believe together students’, educators’ and communities’ ideas can spark systems shifts that make will make our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive!
Will you join us in creating the positive change and contribute to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals?

🤔 Reflection question
After learning about how to empathize with the people affected by your SDG’s social issue, how you might apply empathy to working with the members on your CTN Innovation Team?
Shijo's Answer
In order to respond appropriately, it is imperative to be empathetic, so we can understand how others feel. Individuals have their own perspectives and opinions, which I strongly believe. It is my responsibility as a team member to respect their ideologies and add value to them. Every problem can also be solved through communication.

🤔 Reflection question
After completing the Mobius Strip exercise, what do you feel are next steps towards contributing to the community you care about?
Akhil's Answer
Mobius strip activities offer the following advantages, in my opinion. In the same way that we put emphasis on selfcare, we should strive to understand the people and communities around us. Due to the fact that many people suffer from both physical and mental problems, both should be given importance. In addition to being part of the community, we should also consider community issues to be personal issue.

🤔 Reflection question
After completing the Mobius Strip exercise, what do you feel are next steps towards contributing to the community you care about?
Shijo's Answer
During the Mobius Strip exercise, I gained a better understanding of the community and how we might improve it. In my neighborhood, I was able to identify both social problems and positive aspects. In light of the fact that so many people suffer from poverty, homelessness, and health problems, both physical and mental, these concerns need to be addressed first. Having a stable place to live is a basic need of every individual, and I believe homelessness is one of the most pressing issues faced today.

Sharon's Answer
Analysis of any situation can be the first step taken to problem-solving. At the same time, considering the things happening in the surroundings and considering the people being part of it is also important. differentiating between sympathizing and empathizing can be portrayed through our actions by not just understanding the other person but also being accommodative to their situation. Hence, it was a great reflection of working in a team to mutually understand and respect team members' presence.

🤔 Reflection question
After learning about how to empathize with the people affected by your SDG’s social issue, how you might apply empathy to working with the members on your CTN Innovation Team?
Meera's Answer
I guess thinking from their point of view is the most important thing to empathize with them. When we are working in team and one of my team member is facing a problem, I should listen to them without interrupting or judging them to understand their actual situation. To think from their shoes is needed to get better understanding of their condition so that I can help them to solve the problem.
